Dear Club Members,
I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year! We enjoyed great victories all over Nassau County and especially at the Town of Oyster Bay in 2009. Nassau Republicans took control over the County Legislature and maintained control over the County Clerk's office, while at the same time we took control of the County Executive's Office and the County Comptroller's Office. Ed Mangano is our new County Executive! Go Ed Mangano and Go Nassau Republicans! We are truly the Comeback Kids! At the Town level, I was so pleased by the support I received in the Syosset area along with Supervisor John Venditto (70% of the vote), and we all went on to resounding wins town-wide. The Republican wave also helped re-elect Councilwoman Beth Faughnan and Town Clerk Steve Labriola and elect Council Joe Pinto to his first full term as a Councilman. This was a great Town ticket and I was so very pleased to run with them and honored to be next to our great Supervisor John Venditto on the ballot. John's support led the way to me finishing first among all council candidates and my opponent finishing last in the group. I want to thank everyone for making my third time a real charm. I also want to thank those that attended my induction on January 5th. It was a very nice ceremony and it was an honor to take the oath of office given by my frined Judge Angelo Delligatti, a forme Town Councilman and past Supervisor. Last year at this time I cautioned our membership about democrats controlling all levels of government. This year the voters determined that democrats were responsible for most of the fiscal woes in local government and have entrusted the keys to republicans. We must listen to the residents and realize that they have limited patience. This was not a mandate to elect only republicans, but rather a desire to throw out the democrats and give us a chance to do the right thing and lift the heavy financial burden placed on residents by government. Now we must govern and lead Nassau County into financial solvency again. Our Annual Lincoln Day Dinner will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at The Woodlands, TOB Golf Course in Woodbury. I am pleased to announce that this year’s Honoree is our new Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano. We will also also be honoring local resident Larry Sklar, an important civic leader in Syosset, with the Humanitarian Award. We look forward to a wonderful event, and I look forward to seeing you at our next regular meeting on Janualy 27th.
